Lawn mowing | FERTILIZATION AND LAWN SERVICES

At a glance, mowing looks like a leisure activity. In fact, it is a leisure activity, however, the end result is always a thick and well-groomed yard.

  • Maintenance: mowing helps to produce a uniform and balanced lawn growth that will be appreciated by neighbors and visitors.
  • Weed and pest control becomes easier.
  • Only the strong grass survives mowing. As a result, your garden is made up of only strong grass.

Lawn mowing is best done when the grass is dry. This makes cutting easy and doesn't unclog the mower. To keep a well-trimmed lawn, avoid wet grasses and keep all mowing equipment sharp.

Sodding:

Sodding is one of the commonest methods of transforming your lawn into a lush array of green grass. Sod is an already made grass section that is held together by roots, and bio-degradable. Sod is popular with homes, golf courses and recreational facilities.

  • Fast and easy installation: sod does not have waiting time. You don't have to wait to see your lawn grow into the thick green grass that you desire. Sod grows well and fast when installed properly.
  • Erosion management: Sod reduces erosion considerably by reducing the velocity of run-off water.
  • Flexibility: You don't need to wait for a particular time of the year to plant sod.
  • No dirt and no weed: Sod doesn't include dirt and weed. Before the installation, all weeds are taken care of, and as a result, weeding and other related cost are eliminated.

  • Watering is important to ensure that sod takes root. Invest heavily in watering the sod in the few weeks following installation.

Fertilization:

Fertilization is a way of improving soil nutrient in a bid to enhance plant growth and development. Fertilizing your lawn allows you to enjoy the vivid green color, keep pests at a considerate level, and control the level of weeds in your yard.

  • Facilitate lawn growth: fertilizers act as supplements to the nutrients that the soil has beforehand. They boost its nutrient and result in a healthy lawn with result visible within days after application.
  • Environment-friendly: The right amount of fertilizers will not affect the ecosystem negatively.
  • Balanced nutrients: fertilizers contain nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. The combination of these nutrients produces great lawn quality.
  • Manage erosion: Fertilized lawns works to reduce soil erosion.

Ensure adequate irrigation of the lawn before applying fertilizer. The ensures that the ground is moist enough to command the result you desire.

Flowerbed:

The beauty of your front lawn, but if left uncared for can become a mini forest right in front of your house. This is why one of the landscaping services for your home is trimming and pruning your flowerbed. Pros
  • Energy Cost: it saves your energy through access to natural sunlight energy.
  • Aesthetic: no doubt a well-trimmed and pruned flowerbed beautifies your home. So on first glance visitors or neighbors are treated to the magnificence of your lawn.
  • Horticulture: it is nature-friendly and gives your pets a place to play around.

Drainage Services - IRRIGATION - Sprinkler Systems

We can install or design a drainage or irrigation system for your property. Drainage systems are important to move excess water away from areas where it might build up, causing flooding, and causing important soil to be washed away, possibly damaging structures and foundations. The loss of important nutrient rich top soil can cause vegetation to not be able to properly grow in certain areas.

Sprinkler Systems Repaired or Installed

We are the company to call to repair or design and install your sprinkler system. We can fine tune the system to be efficient, save water and keep your yard green and healthy. A properly setup irrigation system can make your property look like one featured in Homes and Gardens magazine.

The Services a Tree Expert Can Perform

Having a beautiful and attractive landscape isn't something you can achieve without devoting your time to take care of the trees and make them look healthy.

This is one of the reasons why busy individuals found it difficult to have healthy and eye-catching trees or flowers in their compound without the help of an arborist or a tree expert.

An arborist is someone who takes good care of trees in order to ensure they serve various purposes, such as beautifying your house, providing a cool spot for relaxation and safeguarding your building against storm.

In other words, an arborist or tree expert is a technician who carries out series of services or actions on your trees to ensure and guarantee their well-being.

Different Services Performed By Tree Experts

There are many services a tree expert can perform on your trees to help them maintain proper growth and healthy living. These services include pruning, trimming, diagnosing and treating of tree diseases, and aiding fertilization.

Now let's discuss these services one after the other to help you locate the area where you urgently need the help of a tree expert.

Pruning

This is one of the services rendered by a tree expert or an arborist. Pruning is a process in which dead or unhealthy branches of a tree are being cut down to avoid the spread of infections and diseases in other parts of the tree.

Pruning gives your trees the opportunity to develop healthy branches, which will enhance its beauty and the beauty of your landscape in general.

However, it is important you know that pruning is done with the use ofshears - either looping or hand shears; and it's done periodically (every six months)

Trimming

It is often said that trimming and pruning have the same influence on your trees. This may be true to some extent, but not absolutely correct.

We know that pruning has to do with unhealthy branches, but trimming basically deals with other plants or trees preventing its counterpart from experiencing proper growth.

Hence, trimming is an act whereby a tree expert gets rid of bushes and other unwanted grass preventing your tree from growing perfectly.

As much as trimming appears as an easy task to accomplish, it can only be done perfectly by a professional.

Diagnose and Treat Tree Diseases

This is another service rendered by a tree expert to ensure that the trees in your landscape maintain their good-looking and beautiful structures.

This service can't be delivered by any person. It can only be done by an arborist or a tree technician because it takes more than ordinary thought to signify the type of pest or disease affecting your tree.

Tree diseases such as Phytophthora root rot, Dutch elm disease, Anthracnose Cancers, Needle cast, Fireblight and dogwood can only be diagnosed and cured with the use of sophisticated instruments that can be handled perfectly by professionals.

A Tree Expert Aids Tree Fertilization

The work of an arborist doesn't stop at finding the major cause of diseases to your trees, neither does it stop at finding long-lasting solution to pest and diseases.

The services of a tree expert include aiding the growth of your tree by increasing the level of fertilizers enjoyed by the trees.

Fertilization is the process of adding fertilizers to your landscape in order to enhance healthy growth of trees and other fanciful plants in it.

This is why you need an expert for this service because he/she knows the right fertilizers needed by your trees.

A tree expert also knows the right proportion of fertilizers to apply to avoid adverse effects of fertilizers on your trees.

Tree Removal

This is another service rendered by an expert. Removing irrelevant or dead trees out of your landscape plays a huge role in ensuring that your landscape looks good and attractive.

An overcrowded landscape provides many unhealthy trees because there is little space for them to thrive. Therefore, it is important you engage an arborist or tree expert to help you get rid dead, dry and unproductive trees on regular basis.

Other services you can enjoy from a tree expert include landscape irrigation, landscape planning, fire mitigation and many others.

 Tree Service in central texas

A tree is any large woody perennial plant with a unique trunk giving rise to branches or leaves at a few distances from the ground.

It's also a tall plant that can live for a very long time. It has a single stem or trunk and branches that support leaves. Beneath the ground, a tree has a root system that acts as an anchor and stores the water and nutrients the plant needs to grow. A tree part includes leaves, twigs and branches, crowns, flowers, fruits and seeds, a trunk, bark, and a root. Research has revealed that there are ∼73,000 tree species globally, among which ∼9,000 tree species are yet to be discovered and roughly 40% of undiscovered tree species are in South America.

Types of trees:
There are diverse types of species of trees but all types can still be classified into two namely deciduous trees and evergreen trees.

Deciduous trees:
these are trees that shed their leaves at a certain time of the year just as the name implies "deciduous" fall off at maturity. Examples include oak, elm, and birch.

Evergreen trees:
these are trees that keep their leaves throughout the year giving the garden and landscape color in all seasons. Examples include pine and fir trees.

Below are the types of tree:
  • Hickory trees: these trees are deciduous in the genus Carya and are mostly found in China, North America, and India. These trees are well known for their nutritive nuts. hickory trees are related to walnut trees because they fall in the walnut family Juglandaceae.
  • Cedar trees: these are large evergreen trees that have needle-like spirally arranged leaves on scented wood branches. They fall under the genus Cedrus and the family Juniperus. Due to their graceful elegance, they are used as ornamental trees.
  • Oak trees: the trees are mostly found in North America and are known for their hard durable and disease-resistant wood. Oak trees produce Acorns also known as oak nuts that have smooth leathery shells that sit in a cup called a cupule. They fall under the genus Quercus and the family Fagaceae.
  • Mahogany trees: these are trees with redwood that are prestigious for their reddish brown color, durability, straight grains, hardness, and rot resistance. They are commonly found in Asia, Africa, and New Zealand. They fall under the genus Swietenia and the family Meliaceae.
  • Maple trees: these are beautiful deciduous shade trees that have dark brown rumple bark, small winged fruits, narrow reddish-brown twigs, and deeply lobed leaves. They belong to the genus Acer and the family Sapindaceae. Maple trees are known for their sweet maple syrup made from the tree’s sap.
  • Sycamore trees: these are large deciduous trees with a broad, rounded crown of lush green leaves that are serrated just like maple leaves. They are one of the large trees native to North America with roots that have destructive effects on building foundations and sidewalks. They fall in the genus Platanus and the family Rosaceae.
  • Crabapple tree:  these are stunning ornamental trees that come in the glorious shade of pink, purple, white, red, and orange. They are like miniature apple trees with the smallest growing up to 1.2m tall. They fall under the genus Malus and the family Rosaceae.
  • Elm trees: these are deciduous forest trees that grow tall and upright with large umbrella-shaped shade. Their seeds are small and round and are protected in an oval casing called a samara.  Some species of elm trees are ornamental and beautiful. They fall under the genus Ulmus and the family Ulmaceae.
  • Ash trees: these are deciduous trees with a round crown of dark green leaves. It is native to North America and is commonly found in parks. These trees are prized for their strength and flexibility which is valuable for furniture makers. It is from the genus Fraxinus and the family of Oleaceae thereby related to olive trees and woody lilac bushes.
  • Arborvitae trees: these are large popular landscaping evergreen trees with soft lush feathers and foliage that grows upright or globe-shaped. These trees are ideal for living fences and natural privacy wide hedges. It is from the Thuja species and family Cupressaceae.

Importance of trimming trees regularly:

The word Trimming and pruning are mostly interchangeably used but unexpectedly there is a difference between the two.
Trimming is cutting back down overgrown plants to the desired shape while
Pruning is the removal or reduction of parts of a plant, tree, or vine that are not important to growth or production, are no longer visually attractive, or are injurious to the health or growth of the plant.
However, both are common practices in vineyard management for the improvement of flowering and fruiting.
The horticulture practice includes the targeted removal of diseased, damaged, dead, non-productive, structurally unsound, or otherwise unwanted plant material from crop and landscape plants.
Depending on the size and location of the tree, trimming or pruning can be very dangerous. To ensure your safety, we advise you to let an expert in central texas do any pruning or trimming that you’re not confident in doing.

Below is the importance of trimming regularly:

  1. Proper growth: just like oneself, plants need proper maintenance for proper growth trimming improves the health and strength of a plant.  Structurally trimming the plant will put the plant in shape to support the entire plant, and promotes new growth, balance, and structural integrity of the plant.
  2. Pest and insect control: trimming your trees help manage pest and insects on trees. The pest and disease might not necessarily kill the tree but are sure to spread thereby weakening the plant and the likelihood of fallen branches. Trimming trees near your house will prevent insects and pests from getting to your building.
  3. Protection: trimming trees serve as protection to both you and your property. Dead and diseased branches are hazardous because of the dangers of it falling especially during storms. Climbing vine trees should be trimmed regularly to prevent them from climbing near your property.
  4. Production: trimming trees in late winter promotes more growth in spring and summer. When the tree has less volume to maintain, it can put its surplus energy stores into producing more fruit.

Proper pruning magnifies the beauty of almost any landscape tree and shrub, while improper pruning can ruin or greatly reduce landscape potential. In most cases, it is better not to prune than to do it incorrectly. In nature, plants go years with little or no pruning, but man can ruin what nature has created. Using incompatible pruning methods makes healthy plants weakened or deformed.
